Pregnancy Tips

Pregnancy is the most beautiful and momentous period in a woman’s life. A pregnant woman has to start taking all possible care of her physical and mental well being so as to ensure that she delivers a healthy and happy baby. Caring for herself and the child becomes easier with the help of some important pregnancy tips.

1. Regularly Go To Doctor

A regular check-up with the doctor is of utmost importance as this allows the woman to get access to all the prenatal care that she needs. Medical guidance also helps in ensuring that the child is healthy. Most birth defects occur early during the pregnancy period and so it is important to see the doctor regularly. Any queries should be brought to the notice of the doctor and resolved.

2. Eat Healthy Food

Eating healthy food at regular intervals is extremely crucial as the baby depends on the mother for nutrition. The food should include 3 to 5 vegetable servings, 6 to 11-grain product servings and 2 to 4 fruit servings. The food should also include milk and other milk products along with protein items and other items with high fiber content. Some other important pregnancy tips include eating food that is low in fat.

3. Avoids Exposure to any Toxic Substances

The mother should ensure that she avoids exposure to any toxic substances such as insecticides, paint, cleaning solvents, etc. Pregnant women should also drink plenty of water and other fluids. A simple way to check whether enough water and fluids are being consumed is by ensuring that the urine is clear and light yellow.

4. Quit Smoking

Smoking should be given up during pregnancy as this can cause a variety of problems including premature birth, infant death, and some birth defects as well. Alcohol consumption can also be dangerous for the unborn child and so should be strictly avoided.

5. Use Food With Folic Acid

Folic acid and other supplements are very important particularly during the initial period of pregnancy. As per the directions of the doctor, these supplements should be religiously taken. It is advisable to get genetic testing done so that any possibility of birth defects and other problems within the family are identified and proper medical help for these is taken.

5. Exercise Regularly

One of the most important pregnancy tips includes following an exercise regime that will benefit the mother and her baby. Moderate exercise is crucial as it will allow the woman to recover much better after the pregnancy. Exercise will also allow her to prevent problems associated with being overweight and underweight during the pregnancy period.

Avoiding x rays is important during pregnancy and so the medical professionals should be told about the pregnancy so that the situation can be handled properly.

8. Live in a Happy Environment

It is important for pregnant women to express their love for their baby. Ensure that the baby has a healthy and happy environment to thrive during the pregnancy period. The mother should be happy and feel secure and loved and this, in turn, will ensure that the baby is healthy and happy. Getting proper rest is also among the most important pregnancy tips.

9. Wear Comfortable Dress

Pregnant women should wear clothes that are comfortable. High heels should not be worn during pregnancy. While it is ok to have sex in the period of the second trimester it is advisable to discuss the issue with the doctor.

10. Avoid Taking Medicines Without Doctor’s Prescription

Over the counter, medicines are best avoided in pregnancy. In fact, before taking any medicine it is advisable that the woman gets her doctor’s approval. Likewise avoiding infections is also one of the most crucial pregnancy tips.
